Research statement

I was always fascinated by our immune system which so efficiently protect us from the constant attack of diverse army of microbes.
Currently, I am working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the group of Dr. Iris Gratz. I am working on Epidermolysis Bullosa which is a group of rare genetic skin disorder. Our aim is to understand the role of systemic as well cutaneous immune cells in the process of wound healing in EB patients. We want to know if the tendency of EB wounds becoming chronic in naure could be attributed to dysfunctional immune cells. Our goal is to phenotypically as well functionally characterize various immune cell subsets in EB patients with and without squamous cell carcinomas. This study will provide us an insight into the immune cell dysregulation in cancerous conditions. We also hope to find predisposing conditions that might be responsible for chronic wounds to become cancerous in nature.

Personal interests

During my free time I like to make sketches or read fiction novels.
