Physician with little patient at the EB Study Centre

Developing therapies – testing to see what helps – making effective treatments accessible
Clinical Research

Clinical research focuses intensively on determining the efficacy, tolerability and safety of new treatment approaches for EB. The aim of these extensive trials is to secure marketing authorisation for innovative treatments that offer real added value to those affected.

The Clinical Research Unit serves as the central point of contact for conducting research involving humans and covers the entire spectrum of clinical research. This includes the responsible implementation of clinical studies, data analysis, the development and maintenance of registries, as well as the evaluation of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for epidermolysis bullosa (EB). The goal is to realistically assess the potential of these approaches in terms of improving patient care.

Regulatory, legal, contractual and budgetary issues are handled professionally to ensure that research is conducted safely and effectively. Strategic approaches help to bring medical innovations to patients more quickly.

Patients and their families are fully involved in the process. Their needs, wishes and concerns are actively incorporated into the planning and conduct of the studies, ensuring that the research is practice-oriented and patient-centred.

From Research to Treatment: Clinical trials are a key step in advancing medical care. Learn how they work and why they are important for developing new therapies.
