Research statement

The aim of my research is finding a suitable treatment option for the junctional form of epidermolysis bullosa (JEB), provoked by mutations in the collagen XVII gene COL17A1, by employing gene editing strategies based on CRISPR-Cas9. In recent years CRISPR-Cas9 emerged to a promising tool for the restoration of gene function in various genetic diseases.
