Medical Care

Vital for people affected by EB

Although some genuine research progress has been made, Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) cannot yet be cured to date. Moreover, EB is a multisystemic disorder, i.e., depending on the severity of the disease, not only the skin but many other organs may be affected as well.

On the one hand, this makes therapeutic measures such as professional wound dressing, pain management, surgical interventions and competent and sensitive consultation for patients and parents of children with EB particularly important.

On the other hand, a multidisciplinary team of doctors and therapists is necessary in order to provide the best possible medical care and to make the lives (and sufferings) of those with EB easier to bear.

EB House Austria

The concept of such a multidisciplinary team of specialists has been put into practice successfully here at the EB House Austria at the Salzburg University Clinic.

In the worlds first and unique specialist clinic for EB, a competent team of doctors and specially trained nurses provides medical care to patients around the clock. The fact that the unit is integrated into the university clinic ensures that the manifold challenges of EB are met in a professional manner and that EB patients receive the best possible treatment.
